Edward is a highly motivated professional with a decade of experience supporting Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) communities in East Africa. His background in environmental studies, community development and geology, combined with extensive hands-on experience, provides him with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing the ASM communities.
Edward has successfully implemented mercury-free processing initiatives and guided communities through the formalization and licensing processes needed to access investment. He believes in empowering communities through training, financial support, and partnerships with impact investors who prioritize sustainability and community well-being. Edward possesses strong analytical skills, enabling him to identify community strengths and develop effective strategies.
